airdrop

– Wi-Fi

– Bluetooth

Setting > General >Reset > Reset All Settings

Apple

Singapore

Let the MOOC connect you

12242899_10207785872741838_985384483_o

Going back a month before, if you asked me what MOOC is, the answers would be nearly zero. However, after I had spent a sharp 3 weeks with it, I’m now able to tell what a MOOC is and how I would reflect about it.

What’s MOOC?

MOOC stands for Massive open online course which provides many online lessons from various universities around the world. These courses comprised with both general and specific fields of study available for anyone who interested in those particular areas.

A one-pit-stop resource

The MOOC (concentrated on digital marketing) accumulates critical digital topics and considerable marketing issues within its online lesson all at once. Although the Internet is a place where the information is fruitfully available across the world, but it is still difficult to keep updated with what is really happening and distinguishing the focused areas out of less significant issues. For example, I have learned many new terms such as gamification so I may consider using the key idea to apply to my future career later on in life. We live in an era that we are bombarded with a whole lot of information, but the MOOC impressively direct us to the specific track of marketing.

Engagement is the key

Unlike other types of online resource that are only one-way communication, the MOOC highly encourages learners to exchange valuable ideas and perspectives among individuals from diverse background around the world. The occupation of learners is very diverse namely marketing specialists, professors, business owners, and students. As a result, I can relate issues to real examples not just from the theory. Confessedly, I had read so many comments from the MOOC users, especially the complex ones, and those really inspire myself to creatively expand the thought through discussion forum.

What could be implemented for a better learning space?

I believe everybody has his or her own ways of studying efficiently; a visual learner, an auditory learner and a kinesthetic learner. For the MOOC, it is composed of both visual and auditory learning materials such as graphs, statistics, YouTube video and articles. Even though the MOOC is an abundance resource of information, replacing the long length of text with infographic could help enhance a learner and avoid chasing learners away with boredom.

See you later MOOC 😀

Despite not being the biggest fan of the MOOC, I still see the massive advantages that this resource provided. I’m not only looking forward to participate in another MOOC but I would definitely recommend it to my close friends to catch up with the digital world.

So, what barriers you found that scare you off from using MOOC, any idea here?

My PocketBLOG

Every first time trying something new would be a little bit scary just like what happened with my first time blogging.

I would say blogging is way harder as it appears if you’re a newbie. Not only the interesting topic that is crucial but to think creative is a key to raise traffic to your blog. Those of you who are reading this would truly understand how crucial it is.

I have learnt through my past blogging weeks that critical thinking is very significant. Confessedly, I have reckoned that blogging is a wasted of time and only lonely people and attention seekers would be intentionally active on social media like blog but I found myself genuinely and completely wrong. Here comes what I figured out from being a newbie.

What do I get from blog

  1. Keeping up-to-date with the digital world

Blogging makes me investigate what’s going around me more closely. Every time I’m on a bus, have a cup of tea or even take a shower; I can’t stop thinking about what to write next and suddenly every activity I do I unintentionally relate to my blog content again. At the really first few days of blogging, I started to search through the Internet on the recent news of what is in the trend right now, what’s on and what are some of the keywords that I could connect to my content.

2. Solidify a blurry idea.

Admittedly, being critical is not so typical me. I usually find myself struggling to put things together but blogging certainly help myself to gather all the information together and solidify my ideas.

3. A free space to show off

Using the word “to show off” might be a little too harsh but the key concept of showing what you capable of still remains. The reason why people have blog are various depends on who you talking to; validating one’s perspective through blog or to show your perspective about your specialties, to educate, to unboxing luxury goods, to construct a tutorial VDO. You name it…

The prior reason for me is to exist in the digital world.

4. Being bombarded with new ideas

I think the strongest advantage of blog is that we introduce not only friends to jump into the discussion but also outlanders to engage as well. I’m surprised how much I learned from exchanging another side of ideas from others. It doesn’t always reach to the final point at the end but now I understand why sharing is caring. It’s great chance to discuss with people who has different background so I found myself look at things more broadly.

Challenging could feel like dying at the beginning but once you overcome it, this blogging skills might save your life in the future in a way or another, who knows?

Every new trend comes and goes but it never really totally goes away. It comes around  just like the concept “back to basic”. In the southern east side of Asia, Thailand, offline market is booming again parallel with the prospered trend of online market, mostly with Generation Y. These young adults in the 21st century have born with the technological advancement around them. Gen-Y is the new target group that is highly attractive for marketers since the characteristics of the Gen-Y are tech-savvy, highly socialise, info-driven and selective. This trendy lifestyle is valued because expression of one is attached to social media. So, why these increasing number of Thai teenagers prefer buying more of private brand products?

The Global brand isn’t a finite answer of style.

Since global branding sometimes misses out to concentrate on the demographical preferences but focused more on consumers from the country of origin, therefore, consumers on another side of the world, especially Gen-Y in Thailand seeks for what exactly right for them. This new generation is easily influenced by fashion by “Instagram shops” not only provide products or services they need but also offer in an affordable prices compare to luxurious global brand.

Being a business owner is a booming trend in Thailand.

Creating one’s own business can be a really risky because of the red ocean in the market. But you heard what they said “high risk, high return”. Just like many celebrities, once they become well known, they create their own brand and use themselves as the brand ambassadors because social media platforms can easily and perfectly be used to promote products or services on niche target customers.

How many times that you go shopping and barely find anything that match your personality or found something but doesn’t totally represent who you are but way ridiculously overpriced? This is the era where consumers turn into the producers or even business owners because the opportunities to provide the specific products for their generation. What is happening in Thailand is that Instagram shops usually target Gen-Y customers by providing customised goods and services to fit youngster’s society and lifestyle.

What’s the trend?

Thai teenagers are mostly access through Instagram not only to keep up-to-date with the latest fashion trends, new chic café, or friends’ lifestyle but they also use Instagram to window-shopping. Then use Line, the popular chat application in Thailand, to ask for more details with these business owners and proceed the payment.

“Out Door markets” new trend for Gen-Y shoppers is the newest trend resulted from the booming of Instagram shops. These trendy markets aren’t located permanently in 1 specific place but they popped up in many popular places in city centre. It also overcomes the drawbacks of online shopping by providing opportunities for shoppers in these events to really explore real products.

Today, being niche is so necessary to survive unless you still want to compete in the red ocean with all the big guys.

So what’s the trend in your countries? Are these Gen-Y markets are popping up in any any other countries around the world?

PAY LESS AND PARTICIPATE MORE

Every day I walk home, I always see homeless persons in almost every corner of the street sitting and asking for some changes in the coldest weather. It’s hard not to give them some cash so that they literary can survive another day.

But I always question myself how they will spend this money?

What if I give them 20£ and they use all of it on alcohol that would benefit nobody but hurting them instead?

The reason I brought up this story is to introduce you to think about many charitable organisations in the UK; the number of these organisations is increasing like blooming flower in summer. Marketing scheme is always hidden somewhere in every business including charitable organisations that can trick you unconsciously.

How do you know where the money goes after you donate?

Many charitable organisations are no different than ordinary companies in competitive market. They are sometimes far better at applying marketing strategies throughout sympathetic advertising in order to raise money.

Today, I had a chance to go to the business job fair at my university and there are so many interesting organisations in this exhibition including charitable organisations and fund raising programs. I literary categorized volunteering activities into two types which are to pay or to participate.

To pay, simple as what it means. So, all you need to do is just contribute your money and the organisation will manage every penny for you.

To participate, what you need to do is to volunteer to do this activity and help one who gets fewer opportunities.

If I have to choose one choice, I would definitely choose to participate. Volunteering to use my energy. I would definitely feel 100% sure that the effort I put through my actions really contribute to the society and it reaches those people who need voluntary help.

On the other hand, many people choose to just contribute money and “wish” that they “would” make the best out of your donation. If you have read this blog post until here, you might think that I might be a little pessimistic but before judging, take a look at these statistics.

195,289 charities in UK raising close to £80billion a year

  • Claim: nearly 90p in every 1.00£ donated will be used on ‘charitable activities’
  • Expectation: 8.4£ of every 10£
  • Reality: Only 6.35£ goes to charitable activities and the rest just gone through other managerial expenses such as advertising

I believe you can do the math and would silently ask where did the money go?

The figure above is like a wake-up-call for the people who truly believe and trust charitable organisation just by consuming what they claim and promise through advertising scheme. Personally, I sometimes feel that they legally trick kind-hearted person by using very touching advertising scheme. But at the end, I would rather prefer to participate to ensure that my money and energy are not wasted.

BEYOND PLATINUM

Which card represents you?
Which card represents you?

When you think about new marketing ideas, it is very likely that you would be triggered off with the “need”. The need is just mostly crucial for marketers due to the fact that it is the initial factor that would boost up the sale. Learning marketing has sparked me with these ideas and in order to sell a product, it needs to be visible. But wait a minute! Not just visible and noticeable to customers’ eyes, a product needs to be necessary. However, the term “necessary” has different value from now and then where it comes to this century that we have completed our first step of need then we ask ourselves

“What next do I need to look for”?

It is quite favorable to become noticeable by unique characteristics and, at some point in time, it quite difficult to deny that in many situations mentioning about the common brand that we shared with others can naturally raise up a new topic of the conversation. Surprisingly, the situation sometimes even drives us beyond that level when it comes to the pride of having rare items and being spotted.

Not only the function of the product that marketer needs to be broadcasted, but most importantly, identity has been taken into the account because we now live in the era where everyone represents themselves in the most creative ways as they could possibly can.

A good illustration to this scheme is the function of credit card in the past vs. in the modern period. In the earlier decades, the function of credit card was to allow us to spend the future money that we can postpone the actual payment and allow us the delight to enjoy things we can buy with our future money. Unlike the function of the modern credit card, credit card today provides privileges beyond the fact that we can get what we want now and pay later, but it could represent the perk of being an upper class in the society.

  • Business class & first class flight upgrade
  • Privilege at elite hotels
  • Access to airport lounge
  • Travel insurance
  • Cash back
  • Redeeming cash rewards
  • Slam me with a “No” if you wouldn’t want to exploit one of these privileges. Sound so fancy, isn’t it? But every delight always comes with a cost. Of course, the pricey ones.

Do you realise that one of the most expensive products isn’t exactly the most costly car, bag, or a platinum credit card but the distinct identity of its owner.  So, my major concerns are that does owing one premium credit card worth the price? and does the platinum membership make the holder a PLATINUM PERSON?
